The Journal Newsletter

The site is the destination. The email is the invitation.

Once a week we send one short snapshot: a single idea worth your attention, how settled the evidence behind it actually is, and a clean link to the full, sourced article. No digest, no daily deluge — the reading lives here on the site, and the email is just how you hear about it.

What lands in your inbox

A little, chosen carefully

We publish three articles a week and send one email. That ratio is the point: the newsletter is an editor’s pick, not a firehose.

  • One email a week — never more. A single considered pick from what we published, not an automated round-up of everything.
  • The insight up front. The one idea that matters, in a few lines you can read on a train platform, before you decide whether to read on.
  • The claim, graded. Green, amber or red — so you know how settled the evidence is before you invest your attention in it.
  • A clean link to the full piece. Fully sourced, waiting for you on the site.
  • Nothing sold. No ads, no affiliate links, no “sponsored” anything. If we ever mention a product, it is because it earned the sentence.
  • An easy way out. One-click unsubscribe in every issue, and your address is never shared, sold, or handed to anyone.

The snapshot format

How one edition is built

Every issue follows the same shape, so it takes a minute to read and never wastes the minute. Three parts, in this order.

The pick

One article, chosen by an editor from the week’s three. Not the most clickable — the most useful. It carries its lens: Post-Rehab, Women’s Health, Men’s Health or Nutrition, all under the longevity spine.

The snapshot

The key insight in a few plain lines, with the claim graded green, amber or red so its certainty is on the label. Enough to think with on its own — and honest about what it can’t settle in a paragraph.

The door

A single link to the full article, where the sources, caveats and clinical review live. The email never tries to be the piece — it points you to it. The site is the destination.

Why it works this way

The email respects the inbox; the article respects the subject

Health writing goes wrong in two opposite ways: an inbox stuffed with daily “must-reads,” or a headline so compressed it loses the caveat that mattered. The snapshot avoids both. It is short enough to honour your time and clearly a summary — so the nuance, the sourcing and the clinician’s sign-off stay where they belong, on the full page, one click away.

One useful idea a week

Leave your email and you’ll get the next snapshot when it goes out. That is the whole offer: a short, honest note and a link to the reading. No spam, unsubscribe anytime.

Layout preview — the newsletter has not launched, so no editions have been sent. The rows below show how the archive will read; each will link to the article it featured, which lives on the site.

Sample edition Longevity

Edition set by the editorial pipeline

The subject line, the snapshot, and the graded claim will sit here — written the week it sends and replaced at publish. The full article opens on the site.

Sample edition Nutrition

Edition set by the editorial pipeline

Each row keeps the lens it featured, so the archive reads as an index you can scan by topic rather than a wall of dates. Real headline and dek set at send.

Sample edition Post-Rehab

Edition set by the editorial pipeline

Older editions stay reachable here long after they leave the inbox — the email is the invitation, but the archive keeps the door open. Content set at publish.

Every edition is written to the standard we set out in our editorial charter — the one article on this site that is about us, not your health.
